PORTO AIRPORT “FRANCISCO SÁ CARNEIRO (OPO)”

Porto International Airport (Portuguese: Aeroporto Porto Francisco Sá Carneiro or Aeroporto de Pedras Rubras, IATA: OPO, ICAO: LPPR) is located about 10 km northwest of the city center of Porto in the area of the municipality of Maia.

Transfer to the city center and destinations in the Porto area

Porto airport is well connected to the road network and local transport. Here you will find several options to get to and from the airport, depending on your destination and your own preferences.

The convenient & stress-free option: shuttle / transfer to the surroundings of Porto

The city center can be reached comfortably by metro. But if you have another destination, e.g. in the outskirts of Porto, or if you don’t want to deal with timetables of bus, metro and train, then a pre-booked shuttle (car or minibus) could be interesting for you.
This will allow you to travel quickly and comfortably to your destination.

You can book the ride e.g. via the following site before your trip. This saves time and possibly hassle and negotiation during your trip, because the price is already fixed at the time of booking.

Also minibuses for group trips etc. can be easily booked via this website.

Metro stop airport PortoPorto Airport Metro Line Since 2006, the airport has been connected to the Porto metro network.
Line E (Violet) will take you comfortably and quickly from the airport to the city center and to all other metro stops.

The metro station is located directly in front of the airport (International Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport) and is easy to find.

The metro runs between 06:00 and 1:30.

Travel times to important destinations:
Casa da Música -> 23 min.
Trindade -> 28 min.
Campanhã train station -> 33 min.
Dragão Stadium -> 35 min.

Several bus lines also have connections to Porto Airport:

  • Bus lines 601, ZA, 602 and 604 of STCP
  • Bus line 120 of the company Transportes Resende with the following stop:s Santa Cruz, Leça, Matosinhos, Guifões

Tip: Porto Card – free transportation + free entrance to attractions
If you plan to visit some of the sightseeing attractions of Porto, then the “Porto Card” might be interesting for you.

With this sightseeing pass you can visit many sights for free or with a discount.
In addition, you can use the local transport for free. Compared to other European cities, this card is very cheap in Porto. It costs about 8,30 € per day (as of 2021).

You can buy this card online before your trip at no extra charge (click here).
Then you can get on the metro or bus at the airport without still having to deal with the ticketing system and ticket machines of the local transport. You can also find more detailed information on this page.

Taxis at Porto Airport

Cabs are waiting for passengers right in front of the terminal. To give you a feeling for the prices, here are the approximate prices (Monday-Friday 6am-9pm, otherwise +20%)

Surcharge for journey (when calling): 0,80 ct

Note:

  • The prices are valid for max. 4 persons. Large capacity cabs are more expensive.
  • Transport of wheelchairs and similar aids is free of charge
  • The amount of the tip is the sole decision of the passenger.
  • The driver must issue a receipt.

In case of problems/complaints, you can contact the following authorities with the receipt:
PSP (Polícia de Segurança Pública), GNR (Guarda Nacional Republicana), Serviços da Inspecção-Geral das Actividades Económicas.
