The Andante Tour Card at a glance
The Andante Tour Card is a special transport ticket for visitors to Porto who want unlimited and convenient access to the city’s public transport network.
It is valid on buses, metro lines, and selected suburban trains within the Andante system of the Porto region.
Use and Validity
The card is valid for:
- Metro do Porto (all lines)
- STCP city buses
- CP suburban trains within the Andante area
Not valid for:
- Historic trams (lines 1, 18, 22)
- Funicular dos Guindais

Validity and Versions
Two versions of the card are available:
- Andante Tour 1 – valid for 24 hours from first validation
- Andante Tour 3 – valid for 72 hours from first validation

You can purchase the Andante Tour Card at:
- Andante Shops (e.g. at central metro stations)
- CP ticket offices (Portuguese rail company)
- Tourist information desks at Porto Airport and in the city center

The Andante Tour Card is a ticket for local public transportation. It does not provide discounts or free admission to attractions or sightseeing tours.
Which tickets are currently best for visiting Porto?
The most suitable tickets depend on how you plan to get around Porto. However, you should currently not plan your trip based on the Porto.CARD, as it has been temporarily unavailable since early July 2026.
Andante Tour Card: for metro, bus, and train
The Andante Tour Card is suitable for visitors who want to use public transport regularly during their stay. It is valid for the metro, STCP buses, and some CP suburban trains within the Andante network.
It is particularly practical if you:
- want to travel from the airport to the city center by metro,
- plan to move around frequently by metro, bus, or train,
- prefer not to calculate zones and individual journeys.
The Andante Tour Card is exclusively for public transport. It does not include free entry, discounts for monuments, or reductions for tourist activities.
When is the Andante Tour Card worth it?
It is especially worthwhile if you use public transport several times a day. This is particularly useful for longer journeys, airport transfers, or trips within the Andante network.
If you are staying in a central area and plan to explore much of the city on foot, individual Andante tickets may be sufficient.
Plan monuments and activities separately
Since the Porto.CARD is currently unavailable, you need to plan tickets, visits, and activities separately. This applies, for example, to:
- museums and monuments,
- Douro river cruises,
- port wine tastings,
- guided tours,
- hop-on hop-off buses,
- day trips in the surrounding area.
Popular activities such as Douro river cruises or port wine tastings can sell out quickly during peak periods. Therefore, we recommend booking online in advance whenever possible.

I will be staying in Porto for 3 days. I think the Porto card would be better for me and my niece.
The Porto.CARD is worthwhile if you want to visit museums and other places of interest in Porto, or if you want to take advantage of other discounts, such as in restaurants or shops, in addition to using public transport.

The Andante card is purchased using a zone system, you buy a 2 zone, 3 zone or larger zone counts. Does the Porto card also use a zone system? How many zones does the it cover?

With the Porto.CARD, including use of local transport, you can use all 6 metro lines in Porto unlimited and free of charge.

it really depends what you want to see/do in Porto. I’d say unless you have the time to visit all museums, you’re better off with the Porto Card. Otherwise the Andante Tour Card -in my opinion- a cheaper (and sufficient) option.
We will be visiting via cruise ship. I am interested in the Porto card but if I can only pick it up at the airport, it does not help me. Is there any other places I can buy a Porto Card?

in addition to the airport, you can exchange your Porto Card voucher at the Porto Sé Tourist Office, located at Calçada Dom Pedro Pitões, 15, across from the cathedral.
